Lochanbec School of Flyfishing is open from May 1 to October 31.

Plan to arrive at 9:00 for a 9:15 start. The day ends around 3:30 depending on how well the trout are rising in the pond.

Lunch is included in the fee and all equipment is provided. However, if you have your own fishing gear, bring it!

Seven classes make up the Lochanbec curriculum that we recommend for beginners and those with limited experience. Advanced classes and specialized skills such as fly tying, double hauling, and mending can be arranged in consultation with Dave prior to your arrival. Specialized classes for fishing Atlantic Salmon and/or bonefish are available for experienced flyfishers.

Who are we?

Dave and his wife, Sylvia, share a deep love of the out of doors. They live at Lochanbec, a 30 acre retreat, on the headwaters of the Pretty River near Collingwood.

Dave has 35 years of teaching experience, and has had a passion for flyfishing since boyhood.

Why attend school?

Flyfishing is the most relaxing, fulfilling pastime imaginable. Hours spent casting are some of life's most precious moments. The time you spend learning the basics will ensure that you do not miss opportunities for "tight lines".

Our classes are kept small to provide plenty of time for individual attention. Taking a lesson from Dave will dramatically increase your knowledge and skill and enrich your flyfishing experiences for years to come.
